Here, in its streets and squares, the most important market of the Canary Islands takes place, where you can get your hands on all sorts of crafts; ceramics, wickerwork, leather goods etc…. As well as natural typical produce, such as cheeses, wines and other products made from cacti, plants, and volcanic rocks.
Many local artists also sell their very varied works here and perform to entertain the crowds. It is an event that no visitor to the island should miss.
Teguise is viewed as the birthplace of the traditional Canarian musical instrument, the Timple, basically a small 5 stringed guitar, used by many local bands.
Handcrafts, especially ceramics, are still a strong tradition in this district, so you can purchase many beautiful keepsakes.
Couples on holidays should visit El Mojón and buy the authentic ´Novios del Mojón´ figurines representing fertility.
There are special buses from Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca, and Costa Teguise, travelling on Sunday to the Teguise Market.
Check the timetable if you plan to come here on public transportation.
If you don´t want to take public transportation, there is usually the option to go on a half day excursion, which takes you directly from the hotel to the market. (Just ask your reception)
