Furnishing your New Home in Lanzarote
Buying your first home in Lanzarote can be a very exciting experience, perhaps even a milestone in life. A New home, usually means a new location, but if you are reading this then more than likely a whole new country. Now that you have found your dream home over here with us, now is time to think about putting some furniture in.
Having to furnish a new home in a foreign country could seem a little overwhelming, whether you’re starting from scratch, downsizing, or moving into a bigger space, this post is packed with tips and tricks to help you furnish your new home in Lanzarote.
Firstly here are my top 3 tips to consider when furnishing your home,
Lets start with some basics, Following are must visits. Here you will find a great range which is a great place to start. Think of the important rooms first, and start with the big pieces
IKEA. Everyone knows IKEA. It is no different over here on the island, we have a large branch offering the usual IKEA shopping experience (complete with meatballs), home delivery or click and collect. From great staple pieces to handy storage ideas, it is worth a trip for anyone furnishing a home here.
Conforama is a large furniture store located in Playa Honda, very close to Deiland. Deiland is Lanzarote main shopping centre. Here you will find a wide variety of furnishings for both in and outside your new home, as well as household appliances and lighting.
Muebles San Simon is a family run furniture shop in San Bartolome, in the heart of the island. From individual decoration pieces, to a wide range for bedrooms, kitchens and general living. Sam Simon is a staple choice for those furnishing a home here in Lanzarote.
Something a little different
You have done well, you have the important furniture pieces, you have most of your kitchen ready, but what about making your home unique? Following are some of my favourite unique furniture shops on the island. This is where your personality can really flare.
Emporium in Teguise is a antique and art workshop, to quote them, “Not on the high street, everything in the Emporium Teguise is one of a kind.” You will find cultural and artistic items that will ensure your home makes a statement. Offering furniture, decoration and antues, this hidden gem found in Teguise, needs to be your next stop after the famous Teguise markets.
Macassar is a restoration and painting workshop, based in Arrecife. They also sell unique stylish home decoration pieces. This would be a great stop for those wanting truly individual home furnishings. Perhaps you are importing some furniture from your home country, these guys offer bespoke work. Having worked with some of the biggest and most luxurious hotel chains in the Canaries, definitely worth a visit for all budding interior designers.
We will finalise with an honorary mention to the best outside furniture shop on the island, Home Zentrum. What makes these guys stand out? They hold their stock on the Canaries, avoiding possible waiting lists, this ensures they can offer a wide range of products. They also offer free collection of old furniture, this is a great tool, especially for those new to the island.
Most importantly, this process should be exciting, yes I understand it could be stressful, lets take a moment to think of the home you are making for your family, it is a space to make new memories after all.
We hope this give you a little guidance in furnishing your new home in Lanzarote, if you have any further questions, or have recently furnished a home, be sure to leave us a comment in the bottom.
